4th Period Reading (5/14)
Learning Target: I can develop a topic with relevant facts, definitions, concrete details, quotations, or other information and examples through the creation of my Book Talk Project.
Work Session:
The purpose of this Book Talk is to “sell” your independent novel to your classmates. It is the best way to share your books, and the idea is to get everyone interested in new novels. You’ll want to highlight the most interesting parts because the goal is to grab your audience’s attention and make them want to read the book.
Directions-
Send the writing and the picture to my email.

4th Period Reading (5/13)
Learning Target: I can develop the topic with relevant facts, definitions, concrete details, quotations, or other information and examples through writing an "About Me" paragraph using items I find around the house to describe me.
Work Session:
Search around your house and find FIVE items that represent/describe who you are. Write a sentence for each item about how that item describes who you are. Send me an email with a picture of the five items and an attachment with your paragraph.

4th Period Reading (5/12)
Learning Target: I can engage and orient the reader by establishing a context and introducing a narrator and/or characters through the creation of a 100-word story using my own picture as an inspiration.
You wrote a 100-word story yesterday using one of the four pictures that I provided as inspiration. Today, I want you to do the same (write a 100-word story), but this time I want you to find a picture on your own and use it to inspire your story. You must include your picture that you've found in the document where you write your story and send both to me.

4th Period Reading (5/11)
Learning Target: I can develop an imagined narrative with relevant descriptive details and well-structured event sequences through the creation of a 100-word story using a picture as inspiration.
100-word stories are exactly that: complete stories that contain a beginning, a middle, and an end told in EXACTLY 100 words. When writing 100-word stories, the author must carefully consider each and every word to determine the value of the word and its contribution to the story. Writers must be creative in their use of language, structure, words, and ideas; they must use everything they know about writing to accomplish the goal of an engaging 100-word story. Select one of the images below and write a 100-word story inspired by the image. (The title does not count towards your 100 word total.) Be creative! Make up a story, give facts, create whatever narrative you want!
